Globe Int’l Silent Filmfest announces various sections winners

The Globe Int’l Silent Film Festival announces winners of various sections in US.

The second edition of the Globe International Silent Film Festival in the US has announced winners of various sections.

Iranian animation ‘The Switchman’ directed by Mehdi Khoramian won the best animation award in the Best Animation film section.

‘The Switchman’ tells the story of an old switchman who waits in a train station to meet a woman and finally finds out that the woman was just in his imagination.

Initially launched by Iranian film buffs of the Persian Students Association of Michigan State University, the first edition of the Globe International Silent Film Festival was held in Iran last year.

The festival selection committee has started reviewing submissions and the selected films will be announced in the last week of January.

Iran’s House of Cinema and the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology supported the first edition of the festival in Iran last May.

The GISFF is planned to be held in a new country every year, so that the silent cinema industry is introduced to all enthusiasts.

Silent films refer to films without dialogue or narration and recount their story through the language of imagery, just as a painting.

The festival is to be held on April 6-9, 2017 in the US state of Michigan.
